Over the years Arlington Personal Fitness's Stephanie Mendes has helped many individuals reach their goals. These are a few of his client's stories.

Beth's Story

Stephanie Mendes is the consummate trainer. She is the whole package, the real deal. She knows nutrition, strength-training, and cardiovascular workouts. Perhaps more importantly, however, is that Stephanie is creative and persuasive enough to have helped me develop a framework for long-term physical health that fits in with the other demands on my time and energy.

Through training with Stephanie, I have learned that physical fitness is not something one does casually. It is not something you squeeze in when the rest of your life allows. With Stephanie by my side, I have lost 30 pounds and have maintained that weight loss for close to five years. Through injury, illness and the calamities of child-rearing, I have, with her help, stayed healthy and strong.

Theresa's Story

Training under Stephanie Miller Mendes these past two and a half years had a substantial impact on my life.  She is the consummate professional, combining just the right mix of technical and interpersonal skills to assure that I am doing all that I can to maintain an optimal level of fitness.

Her regimen, which addresses diet, nutrition, strength, flexibility and cardiovascular health, is individually tailored to meet my own needs and capabilities.  She is a great motivator, both positive and encouraging, at that makes the time that I train with her both challenging and fun.


Marcy's Story

I started working out with Stephanie Miller-Mendes in December 1996, I  was 45 and had just quit a 26 year, 2-and-a-half pack a day cigarette habit. I was gaining weight, eating too few calories and my only aerobic exercise up to that point was flicking a lighter. Stephanie came up with a weight training program, introduced me to Spinning and talked nutrition until she was blue in the face.

Twelve years later; I still strength train with Stephanie, I teach Spinning and Ab classes and I’m strong, healthy, fit and wearing the same size I wore 10 years ago. Working with Stephanie has been a life changing experience:  physically, emotionally and professionally.


Katie' Story

I have been playing soccer for 11 years and throughout that entire time, size has always been an issue.  Prior to training with Stephanie, I would get pushed around on the field and my shots would have little to no power on them. I immediately noticed a difference in upper and lower body stregnth within the first couple of months I began training with Stephanie. 

My quickness and acceleration improved due to increased strength in my legs and I was able to shield the ball from bigger girls because I had more strength in my arms and core.  Now, size is not a factor because my stregnth compensates for my lack of height. Training with Stephanie has also helped me in swimming.  My times have gotten a lot faster since I began lifting. I would highly recommend Arlington Personal Fitness to anyone who wants to improve their overall fitness!

Alex's Story

Training with Stephanie has made me not only a stronger person, but a more well-rounded athlete. In addition to training with Steph, I'm also a year-round volleyball player and a year-round swimmer, so I needed the cross-training. When I play volleyball, people always comment on how strong my serve is and how despite my shorter height, I can still hit the ball over the block and put the ball down.

I owe that all to Steph's strength training. She makes me work hard on strengthing my core (which has more to do with things than you realize!) and my upper body so I could become a better server, and a better hitter in general. In swimming, I've experienced a noticable difference in my preformance.

I went my best time last month in my championship meet in the 100 free- something that I haven't done for 3 years! The upper body and leg workouts I do definitely helped. It was so cool to see my hard work pay off and I see a significant improvement from last year when I didn't train with Steph to this year training just one day a week with Steph!

Emilia's Story

I have been play competitive soccer since I was 9.  Before training with Stephanie, I was one of the smaller players on the field, lacked power in my shots, and would sometimes get pushed around by other players. Strength, speed, and power became more important as I reached more of an elite level.
Not too long after I started training with Stephanie, I noticed more power in my shots and more quickness getting around players.  I was one of the stronger players on the field.  Overall, I have noticed increased strength in my upper and lower body.

Ruth's Story

I had tried working out with a personal trainer many times at gyms in NY, LA and VA. Often, the trainers that were available to take on a new client were recent college graduates, certified with little real-world experience. In 2006, I saw Stephanie working with a client and what impressed me was that her training routine included balance and flexibility exercises along with weight training and cardio.

I knew that Stephanie could help me! A life-long weight watcher, I thought that to maintain fitness all I had to do was to lift a little weight and do some cardio, burn those calories. I was afraid that I could harm myself on gym equipment that I couldn’t remember how to use.

What I learned from Stephanie was that through a personal committment to fitness and a challenging training program, I could confidently grow old being fit, strong and in good health. The best part is not being afraid of falling and getting up!
