Super Bowl Sunday presents its unique set of challenges to your nutrition and exercise regimen.  The eratic schedule, the parties, and the "holiday mentality" make it hard for you to stick to your fitness program.  Here are a few tips to help you stay on track:

  • Stick to your normal eating schedule until the party.
  • Before going to a party make sure you eat a normal, healthy meal to keep from over  eating once you get to the party.
  • Once at the party stay away from dips, fried foods such as chips, and minimize alcohol intake.  Consume vegetables, grilled foods and water or diet sodas.
  • Game Time is Game Time!  This means watch the game and don't snack all the way through the game.  Nervous eating contains a lot of calories.
  • Get your workout in before the eratic schedule starts and gives you an excuse to miss it.
  • Do some extra cardio to minimize the eating damage.

Good advice Paulo. I'd also consider taking a protein bar with you if you go to a super bowl party. Taco dip can be irresistible!

Good idea. However make sure that the bars are not peanut butter. There was a recall on some tainted peanut butter and peanut butter products that have been causing illness and even deaths. Go to official FDA web sites to make sure your bars are not contaminated.

I hadn't realize that included protein bars. Thanks for the tip. Getting violently ill on Sunday is not part of my game plan.
